Ikon engine overheating coolant leak

I'm facing a strange issue with my 2013 Ford Ikon gasoline. It's done 132812 km. The engine's overheating, the check engine light's on, and there's coolant leaking under the car, looks like excessive pressure. Diagnostics point to a control unit communication error. I suspect a bad cable or plug. Anyone seen this before?

I had something similar with my Ikon. A control unit communication error can trigger all sorts of cascading failures. Have you checked the integrity of the CAN bus wiring? A break in the communication can cause the ECU to misinterpret sensor readings, leading to overheating and pressure build-up in the coolant system. I would suggest using a multimeter to check the cable continuity.

Thanks for the info! Which specific wiring or connection points should I focus on checking first? Any particular data link connectors known to be problematic on the Ikon?

Well, in my case, the issue stemmed from corrosion in the connector for the engine coolant temperature sensor. That being said, a faulty gateway module may also be to blame. You may be able to fix it yourself, but I would suggest sending it to a workshop to do a full car diagnostic.

Thanks! It turned out to be a defective plug connection, as you suspected. Workshop replaced it and cleared the error codes. Cost me 95€ Appreciate the help!
