Ikon poor engine running cold start

Hi, I'm having trouble with my 2015 Ford Ikon, diesel engine, around 143980 km on the clock. Experiencing poor engine running during cold starts, and the diagnostic tool shows an error. Also, higher fuel consumption than usual. I suspect it might be a defective electric auxiliary heater (PTC heater). Does this sound right?

Sounds familiar. I have an Ikon too, and those symptoms scream PTC heater issues. Have you noticed any cold air blowing when the heat should be kicking in during those first few minutes after starting?

Yes, now that you mention it, I do feel like the air isn't as warm as it should be initially. How did you resolve the issue? Did you replace the heater yourself, or did you take it to a shop?

I didn't attempt a DIY repair on the PTC heater. Given the electrical fault codes and the complexity of the HVAC system, I took it straight to a trusted workshop. Best to avoid potential electrical gremlins. Expect to pay around 350€ though, that's what I was quoted.

Thanks for confirming my suspicions and sharing your experience! I'll book it in at a workshop and mention the PTC heater. Hopefully, that's the end of it. At least I have an idea about the repair cost. Thanks again!
