Ikon Turn Signal Lamp Error

Hey, I'm having a weird issue with my 2004 Ford Ikon diesel. The turn signal lamp is acting up. I'm getting an error stored in the error memory, and an error message keeps popping up in the speedometer. Seems like a fault in the lighting somewhere. I've checked the bulbs themselves, and they seem fine. Could it be something simple like a fuse? Anyone else had a similar experience?

Summary of the thread

A 2004 Ford Ikon diesel is experiencing a turn signal lamp error, with an error message appearing on the speedometer. The bulbs were checked and found to be fine, leading to speculation about a possible fuse issue. A similar issue in another vehicle was resolved by addressing a corroded connector in the wiring harness. The suggested solution was to inspect the cable and plug connections to the lamp assembly, and ultimately, the problem was fixed by replacing a corroded connector at a workshop.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Interesting. I had a similar issue with my old Opel Corsa. Different car, I know, but the symptoms sound eerily familiar. In my case, it turned out to be a corroded connector in the wiring harness. Have you had a look at the cable and plug connections to the lamp assembly?

Corroded connector, huh? Where exactly should I be looking? Are there any specific areas that are more prone to corrosion than others? I am not that savvy when it comes to electrical components...

Well, on the Corsa, it was right where the harness connected to the tail light assembly. Given your error message and the symptoms, it’s likely the 'Cable or plug connection of the component defective' as the potential root cause. Honestly, unless you're comfortable with automotive electrics, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. I know that's probably not what you wanted to hear.

Thanks for the advice. You were spot on – took it to a workshop, and it turned out to be a corroded connector, just like you suggested. Cost me 95€ to get it sorted. Annoying, but at least it's fixed now!
