Immobilizer malfunction in Citroen Nemo model year 2011: experiences and suggested solutions

Car won't start

Vehicle starts briefly and goes out again

Hi guys, I have problems with my Citroen Nemo (built in 2011, gasoline engine). The car won't start properly and stalls again after a short time. I suspect that the immobilizer is going crazy. Has anyone ever had similar problems and can provide troubleshooting tips? I would like to know how you have solved this in your garage and what experiences you have had with it. Thanks in advance!

Hi, I also had a similar problem with my Citroen Berlingo (built in 2009, diesel). I only have limited experience with cars, so I'm not really an expert. At my garage, they quickly found the fault: it was the immobilizer control unit, the antenna was damaged. I paid 365 euros to have it repaired. It could be a similar fault in your car, but it would be helpful to have some more information. What exactly is the problem? Does the engine start for a few seconds and then stall or are there other symptoms? All the little details can help you understand the problem better.

Hey, thanks first of all for your assessment. My Nemo now has around 40780 KM on the clock and the last service was recently. The problem is actually similar to your description. The engine starts, but only runs for a few seconds and then just stops. I haven't noticed anything else unusual. Hope this helps.

Hey, you're welcome! With your additional description, it really sounds like it could be the immobilizer control unit. I had a similar experience with my Berlingo and it fixed it. You may have to replace the part. I also tried everything possible at the time until it was diagnosed in the workshop. But my tip would be to have it checked at the garage, where they can read out the error code and will probably know more. Sure, it will cost a bit, but that way you avoid buying and fitting parts on suspicion that might not even be faulty. Hope this helps and keep your fingers crossed that it will be running again soon!

Thank you for the detailed answer. It's good to know that I'm not the only one with this problem. It's quite possible that it really is the control unit at the end of the day. I will follow your advice and take the car to the garage as soon as possible to avoid incurring any further unnecessary costs. Thanks again for the help, I'll keep you posted. Have a nice day!
