Impala oil pressure warning light
Summary of the thread
A 2013 Chevrolet Impala owner reported an oil pressure warning light issue, suspecting it might be due to a long maintenance interval. The oil was found to be dark and thicker than usual, with the last oil change occurring 14 months prior. The suggested solution was to visit a workshop for an oil and filter change, which resolved the issue and cleared the warning lights.

Yeah, I checked the oil level, it's fine. The oil itself looks a bit dark, maybe thicker than usual, but I wouldn't say sludgy. Last oil change was maybe 14 months ago, filter too. What was the cause with your Peugeot?

Right, dark and thick oil after 14 months isn't ideal. In my case, it turned out that I had skipped one oil change and the oil was heavily contaminated. This eventually clogged the oil pump and caused some serious (and expensive!) issues. Get it checked ASAP. I would suggest that you visit a workshop. Better be safe than sorry!

Thanks for the heads up. Took it to the workshop, turns out I had indeed exceeded the maintenance interval. New oil, filter, and an oil additive to clean things up, cost me 165€. Problem solved, all warning lights are gone!

Whoa, sounds familiar! Had the exact same thing happen with my old Peugeot 308. Oil pressure light is never good news. Have you checked the oil level recently? What about the condition of the oil itself? Is it sludgy or look contaminated at all? And when was the last time you changed the oil and filter?
