Impala rear window heater issue
Summary of the thread
A 2019 Chevy Impala experienced a malfunctioning rear window heater, with an error code indicating a potential issue. The initial suspicion was a weak battery, as similar symptoms were noted in other vehicles. It was suggested to check the battery voltage, as modern cars may disable high-energy systems like the rear window heater to conserve power when the battery is low. After replacing the heavily discharged battery, the rear window heater functioned correctly, confirming the battery was the problem.

I'll check the voltage. But if it IS the battery, why just the rear window? Seems odd that other stuff is working.

Modern cars are super sensitive to voltage drops. The rear window heater probably just needs more juice than other systems. If the voltage is low, the car might disable it to save power. If the battery is not the problem, I would suggest checking the wiring. I bet a workshop will know more!

I took it to the workshop. You were right, the battery was heavily discharged. Replaced it, and the rear window heater is working now. Cost me 290€, but at least it's fixed.

I had a similar issue with my old BMW. Same symptoms – rear window defroster quit working, error code popped up. Did you check the voltage on your battery? A weak battery can cause all sorts of electrical gremlins.
