Infiniti FX Dashboard Warning Lights Point to Fuel Sensor

Hey everyone, got some trouble with my 2010 Infiniti FX Diesel (182k km) and need your input. My dash is lighting up like a Christmas tree check engine light and speedometer warning, plus stored fault code. I suspect it's the fuel flap sensor acting up. Had some sketchy work done at my last mechanic visit, so I'm a bit hesitant to go back. Has anyone dealt with similar symptoms, particularly with the fuel flap sensor? Any recommendations for reliable mechanics who know their way around Infinitis? Thanks in advance!

I had a similar issue with my 2013 Infiniti QX70 Diesel last summer. The symptoms were exactly the same multiple warning lights and that annoying speedometer warning. Turned out it was indeed the fuel filler flap wiring harness that was faulty. The wires had worn out and were showing signs of corrosion near the connector. Had it fixed at the dealership since I didn't want to mess around with electrical issues. The mechanic showed me that the old wiring harness was completely shot insulation was cracked and wires were exposed. While it's not a critical safety issue that'll leave you stranded, it can trigger various warnings and might cause inaccurate fuel gauge readings. In my case, they had to replace the entire wiring harness assembly. The job took about 2 hours. Been working perfectly since then, no more warning lights or error codes. If you're in this situation, I'd definitely recommend getting it checked soon, preferably at a dealer or an Infiniti specialist.

Hey, thanks for sharing your experience! That's really helpful since I'm dealing with the same headache right now. Quick question do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the repair at the dealership? Also, has everything been running smooth since then, or have you noticed any other quirks pop up? Just trying to get an idea of what I'm in for, budget-wise.

Hey there! Yeah, I actually just had this fixed at the dealer last summer it cost me exactly 155€ to replace the defective fuel filler flap wiring harness. I'm happy to report that since getting it sorted, everything's been running perfectly smooth no more warning lights or any other issues. The fuel flap position sensor that was acting up is now working like a charm. I know it's not the cheapest fix, but honestly, it was worth every penny to get rid of those annoying warning lights and have everything working properly again. If you're seeing the same symptoms I did, I'd say go for it better to fix it now than wait for it to cause more problems down the line. My QX70's been running like a dream since the repair, no other quirks or issues to report. Sometimes these electrical gremlins can be a pain, but once you get them sorted with the right fix, they tend to stay fixed. Let me know if you need any other info!

Just wanted to update everyone on how things turned out. Finally got my car checked out at a different mechanic a certified Infiniti specialist this time. You were spot on about the wiring harness! Dropped the car off yesterday morning, and surprisingly, the whole job only took about 1.5 hours. Bill came to 180€, which included diagnostics and parts. A bit more than what you paid, but still reasonable considering the hassle it was causing. Got to say, what a difference! No more Christmas tree dashboard, and everything's working perfectly now. The mechanic showed me the old wiring it was completely shot, way worse than I expected. Glad I didn't go back to my old mechanic for this one. Thanks again for the advice really helped me make the right call. Nothing beats getting insight from someone who's been through the same issue. Car's running like new now, and I couldn't be happier with how it all turned out!
