Infiniti JX Hybrid Cold Start & Battery Issues Need Help
Summary of the thread
The 2013 Infiniti JX Hybrid is experiencing cold start issues, a weak battery, dimming lights, and a warning light on the dashboard. These symptoms suggest a defective starter motor, which is a common problem in similar models. The recommended solution is to replace the starter motor, ideally by a mechanic experienced with Infiniti hybrids, to ensure proper handling of the hybrid system's complexities. After replacement, the vehicle should start reliably, resolving the initial issues.

Thanks for sharing your experience! This sounds exactly like what I'm dealing with. I'm planning to get it checked out this week. Do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the starter replacement? And has everything been running smoothly since the fix, or have you run into any other issues?

Hey again! Yeah, I remember the cost pretty clearly it was 565€ for the whole job, including parts and labor. And I've got great news to share: since getting the starter motor replaced, my QX60 has been running like a dream! The starting issues completely disappeared no more of that nerve-wracking "will it or won't it start" situation I was dealing with before. The mechanic definitely knew what they were doing, and it was worth every penny. The car starts up instantly now, even on those freezing cold mornings, and all those annoying symptoms the dimming lights, warning signals, and that weird noise they're all gone. Haven't had a single problem with it since the repair, and it's been over a year now. It's such a relief not having to worry about getting stranded somewhere! If your symptoms are matching what I experienced, getting that starter motor replaced should sort you right out. Just make sure you get a mechanic who knows their way around hybrid systems it makes a huge difference! Hope this helps with your decision! Let me know how it goes if you get it fixed.

Thanks so much for all the detailed info! Just got back from the mechanic actually, and you were spot on it was the starter motor. Ended up paying around 600€, pretty close to what you mentioned. The whole experience wasn't as bad as I'd feared. Found a really good mechanic who specializes in hybrids, and they got it done in just a day and a half. The best part? My JX is running perfectly now! Starts up instantly, no more weird noises, and all those warning lights are gone. Such a relief not having to cross my fingers every time I turn the key! It's funny how something that seems so scary at first can turn out to be a pretty straightforward fix. Really appreciate you sharing your experience it helped me know what to expect and not get too stressed about it. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!

Hey there, I faced almost identical issues with my 2016 Infiniti QX60 Hybrid last winter. The symptoms you're describing are textbook signs of a defective starter motor I know because I went through this headache myself. When my car was acting up, it would crank really slowly, especially on cold mornings. Had the same deal with dimming lights and that annoying warning light. Took it to my trusted mechanic who specializes in Infiniti/Nissan hybrids. Turns out the starter motor was shot and needed a complete replacement. It wasn't just a quick fix had to leave the car at the shop for a couple of days since they needed to remove several components to access the starter. This is definitely a serious issue that needs immediate attention if the starter completely fails, you'll be stranded wherever you park. The hybrid system makes it a bit more complex than regular cars, so I'd strongly recommend finding a mechanic who specifically has experience with Infiniti hybrid systems. Hope this helps!
