Thanks for the quick response! I'll take a closer look at the wiring. Where exactly is the alarm controller located? Is it easily accessible, or do I need to remove any panels to get to it?

The alarm controller's location can vary slightly, but it's usually behind the dashboard or near the central console. Given your limited experience, and the specialized nature of vehicle security systems, I advise taking it to a workshop. The diagnostic process might require specific tools.

Okay, thanks for the advice. I took it to a local mechanic, and you were right – it was a corroded connector on the siren wiring harness. They cleaned it up and replaced a small section of the cable. Cost me 95€, but the alarm's working perfectly again!

I've seen similar issues on the Insight. The siren communication fault often boils down to a defective cable or plug connection. Have you checked the wiring harness and connectors leading to the alarm controller? Pay close attention to any signs of corrosion or damage.
