Insignia AC failure

My 2009 Vauxhall Insignia with a gasoline engine has an AC issue. It stopped working, shows an error, and the warning light is on. Diagnostics point to a defective AC control unit. Has anyone else had this? Quoted 980€ for repair.

I have an Insignia too. Sounds like what happened to me last summer. Did you notice any noises before it failed? Maybe it's just a refrigerant leak?

No unusual noises. Refrigerant pressure is fine. What were your symptoms and what was the fix? Knowing your repair would help.

No weird noises for me either, it just quit. Error codes pointed to the compressor, but the workshop said the control unit was faulty and not telling the compressor to start. Get it checked at a reputable place. Saved me money.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I'll get it checked at a workshop to confirm the diagnosis. Seems like the AC control unit might be the problem after all.
