Insignia boost pressure fault
Summary of the thread
A 2017 Vauxhall Insignia diesel is experiencing a boost pressure control fault, resulting in reduced engine power, poor response, and increased fuel consumption. The suspected cause is a defect in the vacuum switching valve. A similar issue was resolved by checking for vacuum leaks and ultimately replacing the faulty valve, which was confirmed and repaired at a workshop.

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't noticed any hissing sounds specifically, but I'll give it another listen. Where exactly should I be looking for potential vacuum leaks? Is the bypass valve easily accessible?

No problem! Honestly, pinpointing the exact location can be tricky without proper equipment. The bypass valve is usually near the turbo, but access depends on your specific engine layout. Given the symptoms and your suspicion of a vacuum switching valve issue, it might be worth getting it checked by someone with the right diagnostic tools. I ended up just taking mine to a workshop.

Thanks for the advice! I appreciate you sharing your experience. I took it to a workshop, and as suspected, it was a faulty vacuum switching valve. Repair cost was 140€. All sorted now, thanks again!

Hey! I had a similar issue with my Insignia, though it's an older model. Sounds like a faulty boost controller or a vacuum leak somewhere in the intake manifold. Have you checked for any hissing sounds when the engine is running? A pressure drop in the system can trigger those symptoms.
