Insignia Crankshaft Camshaft Reference Value

Sounds familiar! I had something similar happen with my Insignia. That reference value thing could be a pain. Was it misfiring too? It could be a simple sensor issue, but I'd check the timing belt as well, just to be sure. Imagine your engine's timing is like a perfectly synchronized dance, and the crankshaft and camshaft are the lead dancers. If they're not in sync, everything goes haywire. Is the car jerking when you accelerate?

Misfiring? Not that I've noticed. No jerking either, just feels weak and drinks fuel. You mentioned a sensor... which one are we talking about here? And how difficult is it to check the timing belt? Is that a garage job?

Yeah, the sensor I'm thinking of is the crankshaft position sensor. It's a common culprit for that reference value error. As for the timing belt, unless you're really comfortable working on engines, I'd say leave that to the pros. If the belt snaps, you're looking at serious engine damage. The garage sorted mine, better safe than sorry! Get them to check the sensor first though, might be an easy fix. I would definitely go to the workshop if I were you.

Okay, thanks for the heads-up! Sounds like a trip to the garage is in order. I'll mention the crankshaft sensor and timing belt and see what they say. Just got a quote from my mechanic and it was the Crankshaft sensor. Cost me 340€ but at least it is solved!
