Insignia engine stalling
Summary of the thread
The conversation centers around a 2012 Vauxhall Insignia diesel experiencing intermittent check engine light and occasional stalling at idle. Diagnostics indicate a potential leak in the fuel tank ventilation system, possibly due to a defective activated charcoal filter. A similar issue was resolved by checking the EVAP system, particularly the purge valve, and professional inspection confirmed the initial diagnosis, leading to a repair.

When you say EVAP system, are you referring specifically to the purge valve, or is there a particular component I should inspect more closely? I am trying to avoid replacing parts unnecessarily.

It was definitely the EVAP system in my case, and the symptoms sound very similar. I'd suggest taking it to a workshop to get it checked professionally. Could save you money in the long run.

I appreciate your advice. I took it to a local mechanic, and it turned out to be a leak in the fuel tank ventilation system, likely due to a defective activated charcoal filter, just as the initial diagnostic suggested. The repair cost me 275€.

I had something similar with my Insignia. Check your EVAP system. It could be a system failure causing airflow issues. Is the purge valve working correctly?
