Insignia Erratic Intake Air Temperature

I'm experiencing an issue with my 2021 Vauxhall Insignia diesel. The check engine light is on and off, engine power is noticeably diminished, the error memory stores a fault, and the engine occasionally runs roughly. Anyone encountered similar symptoms? My diagnostic tool points to a faulty intake air temperature sensor after 33363 km. Could this be it?

Summary of the thread

The conversation centers around a 2021 Vauxhall Insignia diesel experiencing issues such as a check engine light, diminished engine power, and rough running. The diagnostic tool indicates a faulty intake air temperature sensor, which is suspected to be the cause. Erratic temperature readings from the sensor support this diagnosis. The suggested solution is to replace the sensor, which resolved similar issues for another individual.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Interesting. I had something similar happen with my Insignia: reduced power and a rough idle. Did you check the temperature reading from the sensor itself? Is it giving you reasonable air temperature, or is it stuck at a weird value? That sensor can cause havoc if it's giving the ECU bad information. I wonder if others have seen this particular intake air temperature sensor issue too?

Thanks. I did observe the temperature reading using the diagnostic tool. The value seemed implausible, fluctuating erratically even when the engine temperature was stable. Was your experience identical, particularly with the erratic temperature readings? Did replacing the sensor resolve your problem completely, or were there other factors involved?

Yes, the erratic readings are what I saw as well before the engine warning light came on all the time. It was jumping all over the place, completely nonsensical. It definitely sounds like a faulty sensor to me. Given that your diagnostic tool is pointing to it, and you're seeing the same symptoms, I'd wager it's the culprit. I would suggest going to the nearest workshop if you want to fix this, or do you want to change the sensor yourself?

Thanks so much for confirming my suspicions and sharing your experience. It appears a visit to the workshop is indeed necessary. The repair including the sensor replacement cost me 155€. I appreciate your help!
