Insignia fuel level sensor fault

The fuel gauge does seem to fluctuate a bit erratically at times, jumping around slightly. I don't believe I have overfilled the tank, but I suppose it's possible. Are you suggesting overfilling could damage the sensor? If so, what's the next step to properly diagnose this?

While overfilling can, in some cases, cause issues, the fluctuating fuel gauge strongly suggests a fault within the sensor itself or its circuit. Considering the symptoms and mileage, the sensor may simply be failing. I suggest taking your Insignia to a qualified workshop to have the fuel level sensor properly diagnosed and replaced, if necessary. Ignoring it could lead to further complications.

I took the car to the shop, and they confirmed the fuel level sensor was faulty. They replaced it, and the check engine light is now off, and the stalling issue seems to be resolved. The total cost was 52€.

I had a similar issue with my Insignia, although I didn't check the error memory myself. The check engine light and occasional stalling are definitely indicative of a fuel delivery problem, which the sensor could cause. Before assuming a defective fuse, did you notice any erratic behavior of the fuel gauge on the car dashboard prior to these symptoms? Also, have you recently filled up the fuel tank, and if so, did you overfill it?
