Insignia Idle Control Valve Issue

My 2012 Vauxhall Insignia with a gasoline engine is acting up. It's done 156284 km, and the check engine light is always on. The reader says it's the idle air control valve. The engine stalls at idle, especially when it's cold. I think the intake is heavily contaminated. Has anyone else dealt with this?

Sounds familiar! I had the same issue with my old Alfa Romeo. Check engine light, stalling at idle... it was a nightmare. Did you try cleaning the throttle body and MAF sensor first? That sometimes fixes things before you start looking at valves.

I scrubbed the throttle body and cleaned the MAF sensor a couple of weeks ago, hoping it would fix it, but no luck. It's still stalling, and the error code is still there. I'm starting to think it's the idle air control valve itself. Did your issue end up being something else?

You're on the right track. I tried cleaning, but it didn't help. I took it to a shop. They said it was the idle air control valve and replaced it. It was expensive. Good luck!

I took it to the shop. They said the intake was heavily contaminated, which made the idle air control valve stick. 425€ later, it's running smoothly. Thanks for the help!
