Insignia Intake Manifold Leak
Summary of the thread
A 2008 Vauxhall Insignia diesel is experiencing jerking during acceleration, engine light activation, power loss, stalling at idle, and a strong exhaust smell. These symptoms suggest a potential intake manifold leak, possibly due to a gasket or scorching on the manifold causing a vacuum leak. The recommended solution is to inspect the intake manifold for leaks and seek professional repair to prevent further damage.

Intake manifold, huh? I haven't checked that specifically. Where exactly should I be looking for these leaks? Any specific part of the manifold I should focus on?

Yes, the intake manifold. In my case, it was due to scorching on the manifold itself, causing a vacuum leak. It might be tricky to spot without proper equipment. Considering all your symptoms, especially the error code and power loss, I would suggest visiting a workshop before it causes further damage.

Thanks for the tip. I took it to the workshop, and you were spot on – it was the intake manifold! Leaking like crazy. Cost me 1180€ to get it sorted. Appreciate the help!

That sounds familiar. I have an Insignia as well, and I had similar symptoms a while back. Have you checked for any air leaks around the intake manifold? A gasket leak could cause those issues, especially with the rough running and exhaust smell.
