Insignia oil pressure warning

Hi, I'm having a worrying issue with my 2019 Vauxhall Insignia diesel. The oil pressure warning lamp keeps lighting up, and there's a loud mechanical noise coming from the engine. The car has 98828 km on the clock. Could it be low oil pressure? I'm a bit worried I've got oil leakage, or maybe the oil viscosity is not ok, or maybe the oil filter is clogged?

Summary of the thread

A 2019 Vauxhall Insignia diesel exhibited an oil pressure warning light and loud engine noise, suggesting potential low oil pressure. Possible causes included oil leakage, incorrect oil viscosity, or a clogged oil filter. However, after consulting with a mechanic, the issue was identified as a defective oil pump, which was subsequently replaced to prevent further engine damage.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Greetings. I also operate a Vauxhall Insignia. I previously encountered a similar situation, namely the illumination of the oil pressure warning indicator in conjunction with unusual engine acoustics. Have you observed any recent fluctuations in the indicated oil level, and when was the most recent occasion on which the engine oil and filter were exchanged?

Thanks for the reply. I haven't noticed any oil leakage, and the oil was changed about 10,000 km ago. Could it be a defect in the oil pump, and if so, how much did the repair cost?

Acknowledged. Given the temporal proximity of your last oil change and the absence of discernible oil leakage, a defect within the oil pump represents a plausible cause. In my specific case, the diagnosis indeed implicated the oil pump. The resolution necessitated a complete replacement of the component. I would strongly suggest a consultation with a qualified automotive technician for diagnostic verification and subsequent remedial measures.

Thank you, I took it to a mechanic, and you were right. It was the oil pump. They replaced it. The final repair cost was 755€. I'm glad I asked before the engine bearings got damaged!
