Insignia Oxygen Sensor Heater Failure

Hi, I have a 2012 Vauxhall Insignia with a gasoline engine. The check engine light is on, and the error memory indicates an oxygen sensor heater failure. I've also noticed higher fuel consumption. I suspect a faulty sensor. Has anyone experienced this?

Hello, I had a similar problem with my old Peugeot 308. The malfunction indicator was also illuminated, and it turned out to be a defective cable or plug connection to the oxygen sensor. Do you see any obvious damage to the exhaust system or sensor connections? Maybe check the cable.

Thanks for the info. Where exactly should I be looking for this cable? Is it easy to see?

On my Peugeot, the cable in question was near the sensor itself, part of the exhaust system. Honestly, I'm not entirely sure about the Insignia's setup. If you are uncertain I would recommend taking it to a workshop. It might save you some trouble in the long run.

Okay, I appreciate the suggestion. I'll take it to a workshop. The cable connection was indeed the culprit, as you suspected. Repair cost was 95€. Everything works fine now.
