I didn't delve too deeply into the error codes myself, I'm afraid. After some initial checks I decided to take it to a workshop and they confirmed it was the auxiliary heater. Definitely worth getting it checked out professionally.

Following your suggestion, I had the vehicle inspected by a qualified technician. The diagnosis confirmed a defective electric auxiliary heater, and the component has since been replaced at a cost of 350€. The symptoms have been resolved. Thanks again for your assistance.

I have an Insignia and had similar problems. Check your HVAC system and particularly the temperature control. For me, the heating was sporadic and fuel consumption was all over the place. Is it throwing any specific error codes?
