Cheers for the quick reply! When you say 'similar', do you mean the exact same symptoms? Did the check engine light also come on? What did it end up being in your case? And did it feel like the engine was struggling, even when you put your foot down?

Yes, almost identical symptoms: lack of power, increased fuel consumption and eventually the check engine light became permanent. A fluctuating cylinder pressure is a consequential error, not the primary one. You really need to get it hooked up to a diagnostic machine. It sounds expensive, but it is not. I got lucky and it was a minor electrical fault in the end, which was misreading the sensor data relating to the fuel mixture for each of the cylinders. It's unlikely to be the same issue, but as I said, get it diagnosed.

Thanks a lot! Really appreciate the advice and confirming it could be a sensor issue. Booked it in. Turns out it was a faulty sensor, like you said. Cost me nothing, as a friend sorted it out. Legend.

I had something similar with my Insignia. Those symptoms, especially the check engine light and the power loss, point to something serious. Cylinder pressure issues are often a knock-on effect. Have you checked for anything obvious, like the timing belt condition or any unusual engine knocking sounds? Could also be related to worn piston rings or maybe even a faulty spark plug, though that's less likely in a diesel. Turbocharger issues can also cause similar problems.
