Insignia Reduced Power Rough Running

My 2017 Vauxhall Insignia with a diesel engine is giving me fits. Only 25756 km on the clock! The check engine light is on, and I'm getting reduced power, rough running, and even some smoke when I accelerate. It's also hissing loudly and jerking. Fuel consumption is way up too! Could this be a vacuum leak, or is it something more sinister?

Those symptoms do sound concerning. Has the check engine light given you any specific error codes? Reduced power and rough running, combined with smoke, could point to a few things. Is it possible the EGR valve is at fault?

Error codes? I haven't checked those, but wouldn't a defective EGR valve cause all these problems? I mean, is it common for those to fail on a gasoline engine? Are these symptoms typical of an EGR valve issue, or could it be something else entirely?

While other issues could present similarly, your symptoms are consistent with a failing EGR valve, especially the reduced power and rough running. The error code would confirm this diagnosis. Considering the symptoms, it is prudent to have a workshop check it out.

I took it to the workshop, and you were spot on. It was the EGR valve, jammed solid! Repair cost me 355€. Runs like new now. Appreciate the advice!
