Insignia Terminal 30 Electrical Fault

I'm having electrical issues with my 2010 Vauxhall Insignia diesel (190,000 kilometers). The main problem is this 'Terminal 30 continuous plus interrupted' thing. The car starts poorly, like the battery is drained. I've checked the battery voltage and it seems low, even after a decent drive. I suspect a parasitic drain, or maybe the battery is shot. Could it be a circuit breaker or the charging system itself? Any ideas on what to check next before I take it to a garage?

Summary of the thread

The main issue discussed is an electrical fault in a 2010 Vauxhall Insignia, specifically related to 'Terminal 30 continuous plus interrupted,' leading to poor starting and low battery voltage. Possible causes include a parasitic drain, a faulty battery, or issues with the ignition switch or charging system. Suggested solutions include checking for parasitic draw by disconnecting the battery overnight and considering battery replacement. Ultimately, taking the car to a workshop is recommended for a thorough diagnosis and repair.

I had a similar problem with my Insignia – it's definitely a similar model. 'Terminal 30 continuous plus interrupted' sounds like a power supply issue, possibly related to the ignition switch or something draining the battery when the car is off. Have you tried disconnecting the battery overnight to see if that helps? If it starts fine after that, it's almost certainly a parasitic draw. If not, your battery may need replacing. I'd start by checking the easy stuff.

Thanks for the reply! Disconnecting the battery overnight is a good idea. When you had the issue, did the 'Terminal 30' error specifically point to the ignition switch, or was it something else entirely? Also, did you notice any other weird electrical symptoms, like lights flickering?

Honestly, I didn't get that technical with it. I saw the same error message, the battery kept dying, and I tried a couple of simple things without success. In the end, I just took it to the workshop. They sorted it out pretty quickly and it wasn't a huge bill. If you're not comfortable tracing electrical faults, I'd recommend doing the same. It could save you a lot of time and frustration!

Thanks for the advice, I think you're right. I've done some more poking around and I'm getting nowhere fast. Looks like a trip to the workshop is on the cards. They quoted me 290€ to fix it; the battery was heavily discharged and defective. I'll post the resolution here once it's sorted.
