Insignia Transmission Oil Pressure Fault

I'm having trouble with my 2012 Vauxhall Insignia, gasoline engine. It's done 82750 km. The engine warning light keeps coming on, and the error memory mentions a transmission oil pressure sensor fault. The gearbox occasionally goes into emergency mode, and I've noticed some slipping and unclean shifts. Sometimes there's even a grinding noise. I've checked the basics, but I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

Sounds familiar. I've got an Insignia too, and had similar symptoms a while back. Have you checked the gearbox oil level? That was the culprit in my case.

Interesting. You mean a low oil level can trigger the pressure sensor fault? What exactly happened in your case when the oil level was low?

Yes, exactly! The low oil level was causing the pressure to drop, which the sensor picked up. The car started acting strangely, similar to what you described. I'd suggest getting it checked by a workshop. They can properly diagnose the issue and top up the oil if needed.

Thanks for the insight! I took it to a workshop, and you were spot on. Turns out the gearbox oil level was indeed low. They topped it up and replaced the faulty sensor. Total cost came to 365€. Runs smoothly now!
