Thanks for the quick reply! It seems pretty random. I haven't noticed any difference whether the engine is cold or warm. What exactly was wrong with your Inspire? Was it the sensor or something worse?

In my case, it turned out to be a defective control unit, affecting the gear recognition in P position. It was causing similar symptoms. If the error is stored in the memory, and given the symptoms you describe, I would recommend visiting a workshop. It cost me about 1000€ to get sorted.

Thanks a lot for the info! I'll get it checked out at a workshop ASAP. Sounds like it's likely the same problem you had.

I've had similar problems with my Inspire. Does the error occur randomly, or is there a pattern? Also, does it happen more often when the car is cold or warm? It could be a transmission sensor issue, or something related to the shift lock.
