Inspire Hybrid Fuel Consumption Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2023 Honda Inspire hybrid is experiencing worse fuel consumption and starting issues, with a suspected defective throttle valve. After ruling out air intake leaks and a dirty throttle, a defective accelerator pedal module is identified as the likely cause. Replacing the module resolves the issues, confirming the diagnosis.

Air intake is fine, no leaks there. Engine throttle was cleaned recently, still no luck. Could a defective accelerator pedal module cause these symptoms in the hybrid version, or is it something else entirely?

A defective accelerator pedal module is the likely culprit considering the symptoms and your previous checks. It’s not common, but definitely possible on the hybrid. Given your attempts to troubleshoot, I'd advise getting it checked professionally to confirm. Likely replacement needed, and it’s best done in a workshop environment.

Thanks for the advice! Took it to the shop, and you nailed it – defective accelerator pedal module. Replaced it for 205€ and all seems good now. Appreciate the help!

Could be a few things. Have you checked for any air intake leaks? A malfunctioning control valve could also cause those symptoms. When was the last time you cleaned your engine throttle? I had similar issues with my previous Honda Accord, and a good clean sorted it right out.
