Inspire oil level sensor fault
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Honda Inspire is experiencing an error message and warning lights related to the oil level sensor signal, suggesting a potential sensor issue. Possible causes include a loose or corroded connection in the wiring harness or a defective sensor. Checking and cleaning the sensor's connections might resolve the issue, but if the problem persists, professional diagnosis and repair are recommended, as it could involve replacing the sensor or addressing wiring issues.

Thanks for the reply. By connections, do you mean the wiring harness that connects to the oil level sensor itself? Is it difficult to check that?

Yeah, exactly that. On my Astra, the connector was a bit fiddly to get to, but not too difficult. However, even after cleaning and reconnecting it, the issue persisted. In the end, I had to take it to a workshop. They diagnosed a defective sensor. Best to get it checked by a pro to avoid further problems.

Appreciate the advice. I'll check the connections as you suggested, but it sounds like a trip to the mechanic is in order. My mechanic quoted me 95€ for the repair, and he also suspects a defective sensor or wiring. Thanks for sharing your experience!

Sounds familiar. I had a similar problem with my old Opel Astra. Different car, I know, but the symptoms sound very alike. I got error messages and warning lights related to oil levels too. Have you checked the sensor's connections? It might just be a loose or corroded plug.
