Integra Hybrid Boost Leak

My 2023 Honda Integra hybrid is throwing me for a loop. 200894 km on the clock. I'm getting a check engine light, reduced power, and the engine is just plain lazy. Plus, there's a whistling and hissing sound under acceleration, and it's even stalled a couple of times. Fuel consumption is through the roof! I suspect a boost leak, perhaps the electrical bypass valve. Anyone seen this before?

Summary of the thread

A 2023 Honda Integra hybrid exhibited symptoms such as a check engine light, reduced power, stalling, and increased fuel consumption, accompanied by a whistling and hissing sound under acceleration. These issues suggested a potential boost leak, possibly related to the electrical bypass valve. After consulting with others and considering the symptoms, the owner took the car to a workshop where it was confirmed that the electrical bypass valve was defective, causing a boost pressure actuator fault. Replacing the valve resolved the issues, restoring the car's performance.

Wow, those are some nasty symptoms! Sounds eerily familiar to what I experienced with my old 2018 BMW 3 series diesel. Had a similar symphony of noises and performance woes. For me, it turned out to be a defective turbo actuator. Did you check the boost pressure sensor readings? That might give you a clue if it's the actuator or something else in the turbo system. It's like trying to find a leaky faucet in a complex plumbing system – you gotta trace the pressure!

Thanks! Turbo actuator... interesting. Where exactly is the boost pressure sensor located on the Integra? And what kind of readings should I be seeing at idle vs. under load? I want to confirm my suspicion about the electrical bypass valve before throwing parts at it.

On my BMW, the boost pressure sensor was nestled right on the intake manifold, close to the turbo. As for the readings, ideally, you would want to compare actual vs. expected values, consult your Honda repair manual. That whistling and hissing, though, still points to a potential boost leak. Honestly, with those symptoms, I'd strongly advise taking it to a trusted workshop. They can perform a proper smoke test and pinpoint the exact source of the problem. It’s like trying to diagnose a heart murmur – sometimes you need a stethoscope and a skilled cardiologist!

You nailed it! Took it to my usual shop. Turns out the electrical bypass valve was defective, just as I suspected, causing a boost pressure actuator fault. New valve fitted, and she's running like a dream again. Total cost: 250€.
