Integra Oxygen Sensor Issue

My 2003 Honda Integra with a gasoline engine is acting up. The check engine light is on, there's an error stored, and my fuel consumption has increased. I suspect the oxygen sensor, maybe a defective cable or plug. Could a failing oxygen sensor cause all these problems?

Summary of the thread

A 2003 Honda Integra experienced increased fuel consumption and a check engine light, with an error code pointing to the oxygen sensor. The suspected causes included a defective oxygen sensor or faulty connections. The suggested solution was to replace the oxygen sensor, which resolved the issue, restoring normal fuel consumption.

Sounds like the oxygen sensor could be the problem. Does the error code point to the oxygen sensor specifically? Or are there other codes?

The error code implicates the oxygen sensor. But if the connection is faulty, wouldn't that give incorrect data to the catalytic converter and cause increased fuel usage? If not, where should I look next?

Yes, a faulty connection would cause incorrect data. With the error code and symptoms, the oxygen sensor is the most likely issue. Replacing it should resolve it. But visit a workshop to be sure.

It was a defective oxygen sensor, like we thought. The repair was 95€, including parts and labor. I'm back on the road, and my fuel consumption is back to normal. Thanks!
