Interstar Key Fob Battery Issue

I'm having a weird issue with my 2023 Nissan Interstar, the electric version. It's got about 125k km on the clock. Lately, I've been getting a 'key battery low' warning on the dash. Now, the keyless entry doesn't work at all, and I even saw an error message stored in the car's computer when I scanned it. Plus, unlocking and locking the doors is super unreliable. I'm guessing it's just the battery in the key fob, right? Anyone else had this?

Summary of the thread

A 2023 Nissan Interstar owner experienced issues with the keyless entry system, receiving a 'key battery low' warning and unreliable door locking. The problem was suspected to be due to a low battery in the key fob. It was suggested to replace the battery, which typically doesn't require reprogramming. After replacing the battery, the keyless entry system functioned correctly, resolving the issue.

The symptoms you describe certainly point towards a low key fob battery. A weak battery can cause all sorts of issues with the keyless system and remote functions. Does the spare key exhibit the same problems?

Good question about the spare key! I haven't actually tried it yet. But if it is just the battery, is it something I can easily replace myself, or does it need some kind of special programming afterward? I've heard stories about having to reprogram keys after a battery change.

While the spare key's behavior will provide additional information, it is highly probable that a simple battery replacement in the affected key fob will resolve the issue. The Interstar generally doesn't require reprogramming after a battery change. However, if replacing the battery doesn't solve the problem, it's best to take it to a workshop for a diagnostic check.

Thanks for the advice! I swapped out the battery in the key fob, and that seems to have done the trick. Everything's working perfectly again, and the error message is gone. Cost me 37€ for the battery. Appreciate the help!
