Ioniq 5 additional battery alarm error

Hey, my 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 (electric) is throwing an error related to the additional battery alarm system. Mileage is at 185915 km. The error memory stores the fault and the alarm system is not working. Seems like the battery is drained due to its age. Anyone seen this?

Hello there! I sympathize with your frustration. It sounds like you're experiencing an issue with your auxiliary battery system! While it may be 'additional' it is an integral part of the alarm system. What you're experiencing may be because the battery itself is discharged, leading to a malfunction reported by the car's diagnostics. I had a similar headache with my old BMW 3 series a while back. The cold was draining the Battery, and everything was going haywire, what type of error messages is the car reporting?

Thanks for the reply. The error is pretty generic, just says 'Additional battery alarm system defective'. Is that what you saw with your BMW?

Indeed. It started with generic errors too, and got worse over time. Given your Ioniq 5's mileage and the age of the battery, I'd strongly suggest having a workshop run a thorough system diagnosis. Ignoring a faulty battery signal can lead to further electrical issues down the line with these modern vehicles, and the repair cost might be worth it.

Appreciate the advice, I'll take it to a shop. Cost me 330€, the battery was indeed drained.
