Ioniq 5 rear window heating issue
Summary of the thread
An Ioniq 5 owner reported a rear window heating issue, with an error stored in the error memory and underperforming windshield heating. The problem was suspected to be related to a heavily discharged or defective battery. Another owner with a similar experience suggested that the issue might be linked to insufficient voltage, particularly after a cold snap. The recommended solution was to have the battery checked, which led to the discovery that the battery was indeed the problem, requiring replacement.

It did happen after a cold snap, yes. Car was sitting for two days. Was your error memory also showing a fault? How was the car defrost?

The error memory definitely showed a fault – something about insufficient voltage. The car defrost was practically useless, like breathing on a mirror and expecting it to clear the whole thing. I'd suggest taking it to a workshop to get the battery checked; it might be the culprit, or at least point you in the right direction.

Thanks, that's helpful. Took it to the shop, and you were right – battery was the issue. Replacement cost me 290€. Appreciate the input!

Sounds familiar! I have an Ioniq 5 as well, and had a similar issue last winter. Rear defrost quit, and it definitely impacted the windshield defrost too. Did you notice if it happened after a particularly cold snap, or after the car sat unused for a while? Almost like the car's shivering in the cold!
