Ioniq AC failure

Hey, I'm having a weird issue with my 2019 Hyundai Ioniq hybrid. The AC just stopped working. It's blowing warm air, and the AC system doesn't even seem to be turning on at all. I checked the basic stuff like the fuses, but I'm not sure where to go from here. Anyone else experienced this?

Summary of the thread

The 2019 Hyundai Ioniq hybrid's air conditioning system stopped working, blowing warm air and showing no signs of activation. Initial checks of fuses revealed no issues. Possible causes include a refrigerant leak, electrical problems, or a faulty compressor. Suggested solutions involve checking the AC relay and consulting a workshop, where faulty valves in the AC system were confirmed as the issue, leading to a repair cost of 1000€.

Dude, I had something similar happen in my Ioniq! Thought I was losing it. Does it sound like the compressor is trying to kick on, or is it totally silent? Could be a refrigerant leak, but with these newer systems, it's hard to tell. Also, listen for any weird AC noise before it died. Could be a clue. Check the AC relay too – sometimes those go bad.

Thanks for the tips! It's completely silent, no sounds at all from the compressor area. Where exactly is the AC relay located? And is there any easy way to check for a refrigerant leak without special tools?

If it's totally silent, it's less likely to be a simple leak, more likely electrical or a compressor issue. The relay location should be in your owner's manual, usually under the hood in one of the fuse boxes. Honestly, without gauges, you can't really check for a refrigerant leak yourself. I'd bite the bullet and take it to a shop. Mine ended up being some faulty valves in the AC system itself. Cost me a grand to fix.

Thanks, that's super helpful. Sounds like I'm going to have to take it in. I appreciate the heads-up about the valves; at least I have an idea of what they might find. Workshop confirmed defect in individual valves in the air conditioning system. Total cost: 1000€.
