Ioniq brake light failure
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Hyundai Ioniq Electric owner experienced a brake light failure error, with brake lights intermittently not activating. A scan indicated an error related to the brake light switch. The issue was resolved by readjusting the misaligned brake light switch, which cleared the error and restored normal function, avoiding a workshop visit.

Interesting. I'll double-check the pedal return, but it feels normal to me. If it's not the pedal, what was the eventual fix on your Volvo?

On the Volvo, it turned out to be a user error! Seems that the switch can be extremely sensitive. The Volvo garage adjusted the position of the switch on the brake pedal, and that was enough to fix the issue. They reset the error codes, and no further issues after that. Did you recently maybe touch the area when cleaning the footwell or something like that?

Thanks for the suggestion! I checked, and sure enough, the switch was slightly misaligned. Readjusted it, cleared the code, and everything's working perfectly now. And all that for 0€! Saved me a trip to the workshop. Appreciate the help!

Sounds familiar! Had a similar gremlin with my old Volvo V60. The symptoms were almost identical – error message, intermittent brake lights. Did you check if the brake pedal is returning completely? Sometimes if it's sticking slightly, it can mess with the switch.
