Ioniq High Voltage Error

My 2022 Hyundai Ioniq hybrid is throwing a high-voltage system error. The dashboard lights up, and the error's stored in the error memory. Sometimes the engine shuts off while I'm driving! Other times, it has severely reduced engine power. I've checked fuses, connections – but nothing. Mileage is at 67766 km. Could a heavily discharged or defective battery cause this?

Summary of the thread

A 2022 Hyundai Ioniq hybrid is experiencing a high-voltage system error, causing dashboard alerts, engine shutdowns, and reduced power. The issue may stem from a heavily discharged or defective battery. A faulty voltage sensor and problematic electrical wiring were identified as the causes, leading to a phantom battery drain. The recommended solution is to have the vehicle inspected and repaired by professionals to avoid safety risks.

Sounds nasty. High-voltage stuff is never fun. Have you noticed any unusual battery drain lately? Like, does it seem to be charging slower, or discharging faster than usual? It could be a dodgy voltage sensor messing with the whole system. Those things can cause all sorts of weird issues.

Battery drain... now that you mention it, it does seem like it's not holding a charge as long as it used to. The charging time seems normal though. Where exactly IS that voltage sensor located? And is it something I could potentially check myself, or am I risking turning myself into a crispy critter messing with high voltage?

Those symptoms point towards a battery issue for sure. I wouldn't recommend poking around the high-voltage system yourself, unless you're a certified technician. Seriously, it's not worth the risk. Get it to a workshop that knows EVs. They can properly diagnose the battery and the voltage sensor without electrocuting themselves or your car!

Okay, you've convinced me. I'm not playing electrician with a hybrid! I dropped it off at the shop this morning. It WAS a faulty voltage sensor AND some dodgy electrical wiring causing a phantom drain on the battery. Total cost to fix? 290€. Thanks for the advice – probably saved me from becoming a human lightning rod!
