Hey, you're welcome! I had to fork out around €1000 to replace the gearbox control unit. A hefty sum, I know, but since then my car has been running like a kitten again. And you were right in your suspicion - the parking position switch of the automatic transmission was also broken. Thank goodness the mechanic repaired it at the same time and the problem has been solved ever since. So, take it to the garage and have it checked. It will be worth it in the end, I promise you that!

Wow, €1000... that's definitely a lot of money. But if you say that your car runs like a kitten again afterwards, then it's probably worth the money. Thank you very much for your advice and experience. I'll take my car straight to the garage tomorrow and have it checked there. I hope they can sort it out as well as you did. I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope that it won't be too expensive. Thanks again for your help!

Hey, I had a similar problem with my 2008 Toyota Yaris. It sounded like the transmission control unit was defective. It felt similar to me, the transmission was jerking and shifting funny. The thing is, it's not just a faulty switch. The transmission control unit controls the hydraulics, i.e. the clutch, the torque and the gearshift. In other words, everything that has to do with the transmission. In my case, the transmission control unit had to be replaced. Depending on how long you keep driving like this, it can lead to serious damage to the gearbox. So it's a serious defect. My garage did it within two days, they just had to order it and fit it. Hope that helps you.
