Is Carly Scanner Supposed to Be This Slow?

Hello everyone, I own a BMW 1 (2018, 100000 km, Gasoline) and I've been experiencing some issues. The check engine light is on, and I'm trying to diagnose it using the Carly scanner. However, I've noticed that it takes an unusually long time to perform a health check—around 8 minutes on average. My other scanner completes the same task in less than a minute. Clearing faults also takes a similarly long time. Is this normal for Carly scanners? If so, it seems impractical for me to use it, as I can't afford to spend 15 minutes just to scan and clear a code. Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

It's not typical for a scanner to take that long. First, ensure your Carly app and scanner firmware are up to date, as updates can improve performance. If the issue persists, try using a different device to see if the problem is with your current phone or tablet. Let me know if this helps or if you have any further questions!

Scanner updated the firmware as soon as I plugged it in for the first time. App is up to date. I’m using an iPhone pro so that’s more than capable and also tried it on a colleague’s…. Exactly the same. So far tried it on a mini, bmw and Merc; all the same.

Try checking the OBD-II port for any dirt or debris that might be causing a poor connection. A loose or dirty connection can slow down communication between the scanner and the vehicle. If the port looks clean and the issue persists, it might be worth reaching out to Carly support for further assistance. Let me know how it goes or if you have more questions!
