Sounds like a faulty camshaft sensor. Check the sensor's wiring and plug connection. Could be corroded or loose.

Where exactly do I find the camshaft sensor? What am I looking for when I check the wiring – any specific signs of damage?

Sensor is near the camshaft, usually at the cylinder head. Look for frayed wires, cracks, or loose pins at the connector. Best to take it to a workshop for a proper diagnosis.

I checked the wiring but it was beyond me. The shop confirmed it was a dodgy connection on the sensor! They fixed it for 95€, and it's running great again.
