Summary of the thread
A 2010 Hyundai ix20 diesel experienced a malfunction with its start-stop system, leading to unexpected engine shutdowns and warning lights. Interesting! No, the battery light isn't constantly on, but I did notice it flicker a couple of times recently. So, you're saying it's probably the battery then? Is there any way to check it myself, or should I just take it to a workshop?

Well, flickering is not a good sign. While you could try checking the voltage with a multimeter, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. They can properly diagnose the battery's health and whether it's causing the start-stop malfunction. They'll have the proper equipment to test it under load.

Thanks a lot for the advice! I took it to a local shop, and you were right – the battery was heavily discharged and defective. They replaced it for 290€, and the start-stop system is working perfectly again. Appreciate the help!

Hey there! That sounds familiar. I had a similar problem with my old Opel Astra. Start-stop systems are pretty sensitive, especially when it comes to battery health. Basically, these systems automatically shut off the engine when you're stationary to save fuel and reduce emissions, and then restart it when you're ready to go. The automatic restart needs a good amount of juice from the battery. Is your battery light on?
