ix35 AC Not Cooling
Summary of the thread
The 2010 Hyundai ix35 is experiencing air conditioning issues where the system isn't cooling, doesn't switch on, and a warning light is present. The problem may be due to a defective AC control unit, which prevents the compressor from engaging. It is recommended to have a professional diagnose and repair the issue, as it could be more serious than just low refrigerant levels.

Thanks for the quick reply. I haven't checked the refrigerant pressure myself - don't have the tools. And yes, the compressor isn't engaging at all, no click. Where should I start?

Okay, no click from the compressor is a key point. Since you lack tools, I highly recommend taking it to a trusted workshop. In my case with the Astra, it ended up being a faulty AC control unit. It wasn't sending the signal to engage the compressor. Given that the compressor is not starting and you have a warning light, you likely have a more serious issue than just low refrigerant. Better to have a professional diagnose it properly before you start replacing parts.

Appreciate the advice. I'll book it in with a local workshop. They diagnosed it as a defective AC control unit, which caused the compressor failure. The whole repair, including parts and labor, came to 980€. Thanks again!

Sounds familiar. I had similar symptoms with my old Opel Astra. The AC stopped working, and I was getting weird error codes. Have you checked the refrigerant pressure? A low refrigerant level can trigger the system to shut down to protect the compressor. Also, when you say it doesn't switch on, do you mean the compressor isn't engaging? You can usually hear a click when the compressor clutch engages. If it's not engaging, the compressor may not be getting power, which would prevent the AC from working.
