ix35 ECU Error Main Relay

Hi, I've got a 2013 Hyundai ix35, gasoline engine, and it's started acting up. 103k km on the clock. Feels like it's lost power, and the engine light is on. Had it scanned and it's showing an ECU error. Could a defective main relay cause this?

Summary of the thread

A 2013 Hyundai ix35 with 103,000 km experienced a loss of power and an engine light, indicating an ECU error. The issue was suspected to be caused by a defective main relay. After replacing the main relay, the error was resolved, and the engine performance returned to normal, confirming the relay as the source of the problem.

Hey, I had something similar happen with my ix35. Reduced power and an ECU error. Have you checked the relays? That was the source of the issue in my case. It's worth looking into before anything else.

Thanks for the tip! Which relay was it specifically? And did you notice any other weird symptoms before it went completely?

It was the main relay, and no, I didn't notice anything else beforehand. It just happened suddenly one day. If replacing it doesn't fix the problem, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop to get the ECU properly checked.

Thanks again! Indeed, main relay was faulty. I replaced it and the error is gone and the engine runs smoothly. The repair cost me 120€. Saved me a lot of headache!
