ix35 Fuel Flap Problems
Summary of the thread
A 2015 Hyundai ix35 diesel experienced issues with the fuel flap release, which wouldn't open, and other functions were also affected. The suspected cause was a defective linkage, but further investigation revealed a faulty lock actuator. The problem was resolved by replacing the lock actuator at a workshop, restoring the fuel flap's functionality.

Key fob battery is fine, and the central locking works. I can't find the emergency release cord in the trunk. Any idea where it is?

Okay, if the key fob and central locking are fine, and you can't find the release cord (it's usually behind a little access panel on the side, might be worth double-checking!), then yeah, sounds like the actuator's given up the ghost. Mine ended up needing a new lock actuator. Bit of a pain. Honestly, I'd say bite the bullet and take it to a workshop. They'll diagnose it properly, and you won't risk breaking anything trying to DIY it.

Took it to a workshop, and it was a defective lock actuator. Replacement cost 210€, including parts and labor. The fuel flap release is now working.

Woah, that's spooky! I had the exact same thing happen on my ix35! Couldn't get the fuel cap open for love nor money. Ended up wrestling with the darn thing at the gas station. You checked the key fob battery, right? Seems basic, but sometimes it's the simple things. Does the central locking work okay otherwise? And have you tried the emergency release cord in the trunk?
