Jaguar XE Audio Dead: Zero Sound Despite Working Display

My 2020 Jaguar XE diesel (118792 km) suddenly has no audio output at all. The head unit turns on but produces no sound through any car speakers. The volume control works and display seems normal, but zero audio comes through. Error code is stored but I had bad experiences with dealership repairs before. Has anyone dealt with complete audio system failure in their Jag? What was the actual issue and repair cost in your case?

My 2017 Jaguar XF 2.0d had a similar complete audio system failure. The head unit displayed normally but produced no sound through any car speakers. After investigation, the issue was traced to a faulty amplifier module, not the speakers themselves. The amplifier failure caused complete signal loss between the head unit and car speakers. Initial diagnosis showed stored error codes pointing to the amp module. This is a known weakness point in these audio systems. The repair required removing several interior panels to access and replace the amplifier unit. While checking the system, the technician also found some faulty wiring in the main audio harness that needed attention to prevent future static noise issues. This was a serious repair requiring specialized diagnostic equipment and Jaguar-specific knowledge. The amplifier is an integral system component, there are no workarounds or temporary fixes. Attempting DIY repairs risks damaging other connected components. I recommend having this checked by a qualified shop that regularly works on Jaguar electrical systems. The symptoms match exactly what I experienced, and delaying the repair could lead to additional issues with connected systems.

Thanks for sharing your amplifier repair experience. Such a frustrating issue when the head unit looks fine but no audio comes through the car speakers. Wondering if you remember the total repair cost for the amp replacement and harness work? I had the same symptoms on my 2020 XE last month, complete audio failure despite normal dashboard controls display. Still waiting to schedule the repair since my local shop is backed up. Just hoping my Bluetooth problem is also related to the amp and not a separate issue. Did any other electrical gremlins pop up since getting yours fixed?

Had zero issues since the repair was done. Actually turned out different than expected, the main problem wasnt the amplifier in my case. The mechanic found the head unit display module was defective, causing the complete audio system failure. Total repair came to 725€ including diagnostic time and parts. The static noise I initially noticed was also fixed since they detected and repaired some bad connections in the main audio harness while they were in there. No faulty wiring issues or odd electrical problems since then. The car speakers and Bluetooth all work perfectly now. If your symptoms are identical, definitely get it checked soon. These audio system failures often start small but can affect other components if left too long. The head unit diagnostics showed it was a fairly common issue in these models.

I finally got my XE into the shop last week after dealing with the complete audio system failure for over a month. The diagnostic revealed a combination of issues, faulty wiring in the main harness plus a failing amplifier module causing the speaker crackle and audio quality problems. Total repair cost hit 890€, which included replacing both components and full system testing. The volume control and head unit display were actually fine, just as the shop suspected. Glad I didnt waste time at the dealership first. The audio quality is perfect now and the Bluetooth problem disappeared once they fixed the amp. All car speakers working properly again with no static or cutting out. Such a relief to have proper sound back, driving in silence was getting old. Definitely recommend getting it checked sooner rather than later if anyone else experiences similar symptoms. These electrical gremlins tend to spread if left unfixed. At least now I know what to watch for if issues start again.
