I had nearly identical problems with my XE last winter. My dashboard alert kept flashing and the emissions control system was acting up. After seeing your post, I am quite certain we dealt with the same issue. The AdBlue system failure caused a chain reaction affecting the entire diesel exhaust setup. Did you manage to get it fixed yet? Would be interesting to know your repair costs. In my case, the service light kept coming on even after the first repair attempt, and they had to do additional work on the tank capacity sensor.

Thanks for asking about the repair outcome. The issue with the AdBlue system has been fully resolved now. The service light is no longer active after the mechanic found and fixed a faulty connection between the AdBlue tank and the dosing unit. The total repair cost came to 250€, which covered both diagnostic work and fixing the output line. The injection system is working properly now, and the SCR catalyst performance has returned to normal. Most importantly, the dashboard alert for the AdBlue system has not reappeared since the repair. Your experience with recurring issues after the first repair attempt sounds frustrating. The tank capacity sensor problems you mentioned are actually quite common with these models. Since having the tank output connection fixed, my diesel exhaust system has been performing exactly as it should, with no warning lights or starting issues.

The repair journey finally ended well for my XE. After taking it to a certified shop, they diagnosed multiple issues with the DEF fluid delivery system. The mechanic found crystallized deposits blocking the injection system, which explained why the service light kept coming on. The total work included: cleaning the complete SCR catalyst system, replacing the tank sensor unit, flushing the DEF fluid lines, recalibrating the injection system. The repair bill was steep at 780€ but the fuel efficiency has improved noticeably. Most importantly, the dashboard warnings have completely disappeared and the car starts perfectly every time. The exhaust system now works as intended, with proper AdBlue flow and no more error codes. For others facing similar issues, getting it fixed properly the first time saves money in the long run, even if the initial cost seems high. The car runs better than ever and I have not seen any warning lights in over 2000km of driving.

The AdBlue tank error and starting issues match what I experienced with my 2018 Jaguar XF 3.0D. The service light came on after a routine maintenance, indicating problems with the SCR catalyst system. The issue wasnt just a empty tank, the AdBlue dosing unit had failed, preventing proper flow to the injection system. The problem required replacing the complete dosing module because the internal pump was damaged. These emission standards compliance components are critical. When the AdBlue system fails, the engine management system will eventually prevent starts to protect the exhaust treatment system. Key signs to check: AdBlue tank capacity sensor readings, connections between tank and dosing unit, error codes related to DEF pressure, signs of crystallization in lines. This is considered a serious repair as it affects the entire exhaust treatment system. The dealer needed 3 days to complete the work on my car, including diagnostic time and parts delivery. testing the actual AdBlue quality and cleaning the tank before installing new components is essential to prevent repeat failures.
