Thanks for sharing that experience. Nearly identical issues with my 2006 XK8 last winter. The fault detection system was throwing unusual codes and the automotive alarm would trigger unexpectedly. Had to get the entire alarm controller replaced along with some wiring repairs. How much did the repairs end up costing in your case? Mine was fairly expensive due to parts availability. Also curious if youve had any recurring issues since the fix? Sometimes these alarm disarm problems can indicate other electrical gremlins in the system.

Had the repair done last week actually. The mechanics traced and fixed the Siren communication fault completely, no more error codes or false alarms since then. The final cost was 95€, which covered fixing a faulty cable connection to the alarm siren. Pretty reasonable considering how these vehicle security systems can be complex to diagnose. No recurring issues with the alarm system since the fix. The key was finding a proper connection fault in the wiring harness that was causing the intermittent communication problems. Once that was sorted, the alarm reset worked perfectly and all systems are communicating as they should. Much cheaper than replacing the entire controller like in your case. These automotive alarm issues often come down to simple connection problems rather than complete component failure. Worth checking the basic wiring and connections first before going for more expensive repairs.

Finally got it properly diagnosed and fixed last month. The fault detection system identified multiple wiring issues connecting to the alarm controller. The mechanic found corroded connections and a partially damaged harness near the trunk area, likely from water intrusion over time. The repair took about 4 hours total. They had to remove several panels to access and replace the damaged sections of the security system wiring. Also cleaned up all the connection points to prevent future vehicle security problems. Total cost came to 480€ including parts and labor. Much better outcome than my previous attempts to fix it. No more unusual alarms or warning lights since the repair. The mechanic mentioned these security breach warnings are common on older Jaguars due to wiring deterioration, but a proper fix should last several years if done right. Glad I found someone who actually knew how to properly diagnose these systems rather than just throwing parts at the problem. The detailed fault detection made all the difference in getting it fixed correctly the first time.

Had similar trouble with a 2008 Jaguar XKR. The alarm controller showed identical symptoms, warning lights and complete system failure. The automotive alarm stopped responding after a security breach was detected by the main unit. The root cause was a damaged wiring harness near the hood latch sensor, plus corrosion on the alarm siren connector. The wiring had rubbed against the frame over time, causing intermittent connection issues. These vehicles commonly develop problems with the alarm system wiring due to their routing. The repair required: Full diagnostic scan of the vehicle security modules, Replacement of the damaged wiring section, cleaning and sealing of the siren connector, Recoding of the alarm controller to the main unit This was more than a simple fix since it involved tracing multiple circuits and potential failure points. The system integration on these models means a single wiring fault can trigger cascading communication errors. I suggest having a specialist with Jaguar diagnostic equipment examine it, as generic scanners often cant properly communicate with these security systems. testing the hood latch sensor and siren connections would be a good starting point.
