Jaguar XK Multiple Sensor Failures, Radar Issue Alert

Looking for help with my 2003 Jaguar XK which seems to have multiple system failures. The speedometer displays error messages and warning lights, plus several error codes are stored in the system memory. After some research, I suspect the radar sensor might be faulty, as multiple automotive sensors appear to be affected simultaneously. Has anyone encountered similar symptoms with their XK? Particularly interested in hearing about repair solutions and whether radar calibration was required. Also wondering if this could be related to the collision avoidance system. Any tips on diagnostic steps or repair experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Having some experience with these issues, I encountered a similar problem on my 2005 Jaguar XKR. The symptoms you describe strongly suggest a sensor malfunction, which often affects multiple safety systems and driver assistance features. In my case, the radar sensor was simply dirty, causing interference with the adaptive cruise control and collision avoidance systems. The speedometer issues and warning lights were all connected to this single point of failure. After a thorough cleaning of the sensor and recalibration at a specialized workshop, all systems returned to normal functioning. The total cost was 45€ for the diagnostic and cleaning service. These electronic issues can be tricky to diagnose without proper equipment. The radar sensor is particularly sensitive and can trigger multiple fault codes when malfunctioning. Before investing in replacement parts, having the sensor cleaned and tested is worth considering. To provide more specific guidance, could you share: Are there any specific error messages displayed? Did the issues start suddenly or develop gradually? Have you noticed any changes in the adaptive cruise control behavior? Is the check engine light also illuminated? Have you recently driven through extreme weather conditions?

Last service was at 68207 KM, focusing mainly on basic maintenance. The issue actually seems more complex than a dirty sensor. Following my post, I tried cleaning the radar sensor area but saw no improvement. The error messages persist even after disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes. My adaptive cruise completely stopped working and the collision avoidance system shows constant errors. The main concern is that these electronic issues affect multiple automotive sensors simultaneously. Some warning lights go on and off out of nowhere, making it hard to determine if its a wiring problem or a central module failure. Getting the radar calibration done professionally might be necessary, but concerned about the cost given the age of the vehicle. Has anyone dealt with complete sensor system failures on these older Jaguars? Starting to wonder if the main control module needs replacement.

Thanks for the additional details about your XK. After you mentioned the issues persisting post-cleaning, it reminds me of what happened next with my XKR. The initial cleaning I mentioned earlier only worked temporarily, and I ended up facing a more serious sensor failure. Looking at your symptoms, especially the unusual warning lights and complete adaptive cruise failure, this matches exactly what I experienced when my main sensor control module started failing. These driving assistance systems are interconnected, so when the central module goes bad, it creates a cascade of electronic issues. After trying several fixes, replacing the main control module resolved all problems. The complete repair including parts and labor cost 890€, plus another 150€ for sensor calibration. While expensive, it was cheaper than replacing multiple individual automotive sensors. Before going that route, suggest checking: All related fuses, Wiring harness for signs of corrosion, Ground connections near the sensor mounting points The age of these Jaguars makes them prone to electronic issues, particularly with the sensor systems. If the module replacement is too costly, some specialists can repair the existing unit, though results vary. Would you be able to share the specific error codes stored in the system? This could help confirm if your situation matches what I experienced.

Thanks for the previous responses, but I think its time to bite the bullet and have the module replaced. The error codes I pulled are P0650, P0641, and U0123, all pointing toward general electrical system and sensor communication failures. Just as you described, my driving assistance features are completely non-functional and the unusual warning lights continue. Called a few shops and the module replacement quotes range from 750€ to 1100€ including radar calibration. Going with a specialist who has specific experience with Jaguar sensor systems and promises full testing of all automotive sensors after installation. They mentioned the adaptive cruise and collision avoidance system should return to normal operation once the new module is properly calibrated. Will update once the repair is complete, but feeling more confident now about the diagnosis. These sensor failures are clearly a common issue on aging XKs. Really appreciate you sharing your repair experiences, helped me avoid replacing individual components unnecessarily.
