Jaguar XK Oil Warning: Critical Pressure Issue Alert

The issue was resolved by replacing both the oil pressure sensor and oil pump. After 57210 KM and regular maintenance, these parts can wear out. The total repair cost was 890€ including parts and labor. The low oil pressure warning disappeared completely after the fix. Looking back, the mechanical noise was a clear indicator of oil pump failure. Regular oil changes and monitoring oil pressure gauge readings help prevent these issues. The car runs smoothly now with stable oil pressure readings at all RPMs. Would recommend others get their oil pressure checked at the first sign of similar symptoms.

Glad to hear you got it fixed. My experience with the XF was nearly identical, those oil pressure warnings really are critical early indicators. Like yours, my repair included both the sensor and pump replacement, though I got lucky with a slightly lower total cost at 755€. The mechanical noise from failing oil pumps is quite distinct, and as you mentioned, its a clear sign of oil pump failure that shouldnt be ignored. When my oil pressure gauge started showing inconsistent readings, I learned the hard way that waiting only risks engine bearings damage. Since the repair, I make it a point to watch the oil pressure readings more carefully, especially during cold starts. Regular oil changes and pressure monitoring have kept my engine running strong with no oil leakage issues for the past 2 years. Its worth noting that low oil pressure problems tend to show up around the 50-60K mark in these engines, which matches your experience at 57210 KM. Good call on getting it fixed promptly, these symptoms definitely shouldnt be ignored.

Thanks for the helpful information about the oil pump and pressure sensor replacement. The 890€ repair seems reasonable considering both parts needed replacement. My symptoms matched yours exactly, the mechanical noise and oil pressure warnings were definitely concerning at first. Im glad I caught it early at 57210 KM before any major engine damage occurred. The oil pressure gauge now shows consistent readings at all RPMs with no more warning lights. Makes sense that the repair resolved both the noise and pressure issues completely. Regular oil changes seem critical for preventing these problems. Will definitely keep monitoring the oil pressure gauge readings more carefully going forward. The mechanic mentioned that oil pump wear is common around this mileage, so other XK owners should watch for similar symptoms. This whole experience taught me not to ignore those early warning signs. Getting it diagnosed and fixed promptly was worth every euro to avoid potentially catastrophic engine bearing damage from low oil pressure.

I experienced something very similar with my 2011 Jaguar XF with the V8 engine. Having some experience with engine maintenance, I recognized those symptoms immediately, as they closely match what you're describing. The loud mechanical noise combined with oil pressure warnings was indeed caused by an oil pump failure in my case. The repair involved replacing the oil pump and inspecting the engine bearings for potential damage caused by insufficient oil circulation. The total repair cost was 755€, which included: New oil pump installation, Complete oil change, Oil pressure sensor verification, System diagnostics Before jumping to conclusions, it would help to know: How many miles/kilometers are on your engine? When was your last oil change? Does the noise increase with engine RPM? Are you losing any oil between changes? These symptoms should not be ignored, as continuing to drive with low oil pressure can cause severe engine damage. The oil pump failure often progresses quickly, potentially leading to catastrophic engine bearing damage if not addressed promptly. My workshop managed to catch this before any major engine damage occurred. They completed the repair in two days, and the car has been running perfectly since then. The oil pressure warning never returned after the repair.
