Jazz ABS and Steering Issues
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Honda Jazz Hybrid owner experienced a 'Tire pressure low' warning, steering wheel vibration, harder steering, and an ABS lamp activation. Despite checking tire pressures, the issues persisted, leading to suspicion of a defective valve affecting the tire monitoring system. It was suggested that the problem might be due to faulty tire sensors, which could interfere with the ABS and power steering systems. The recommended solution was to have the vehicle diagnosed at a workshop, where it was confirmed that a defective valve was indeed the cause.

Thanks for the quick response. You mentioned checking the tire sensors. How do I do that? Are special tools needed, or is there a diagnostic procedure? I'm reasonably competent with vehicle maintenance but not familiar with modern tire monitoring systems.

Alright, listen closely. You could try to reset the TPMS, see if that helps. But given the other symptoms, I'm betting against it. The sensors themselves? You'll need a TPMS scan tool to read them properly. It's not really a DIY job unless you're already geared up. Honestly, given the ABS and steering issues, I'd bite the bullet and take it to a workshop. They'll diagnose the sensor and the ABS module and if they find out you have a punctured tire, they can fix the valve at the same time.

I appreciate your advice. I'll schedule an appointment with a trusted workshop for a diagnosis. It was indeed a defective valve in the tire, affecting the tire monitoring system. The repair bill was 280€.

Whoa, sounds rough! I had something similar happen with my Jazz. Same low pressure warning, but things got weird FAST. The ABS kicking in? Power steering getting heavy? That's more than just a flat. Check your tire sensors! My guess is one of them is throwing a hissy fit and messing with the whole system. It'll trigger the ABS because the car thinks a wheel is locking up, and that power steering relies on the ABS module. Have you fiddled with your tire monitoring system lately?
