Jazz Hybrid MAF Sensor Suspected
Summary of the thread
A 2023 Honda Jazz hybrid with 222,937 km is experiencing increased fuel consumption, engine stalling at idle, and smoke during acceleration, with the check engine light on. These symptoms suggest a potential issue with the mass air flow (MAF) sensor. The car also exhibits sluggish performance at higher RPMs, reinforcing the suspicion of a faulty MAF sensor. It is recommended to have the vehicle checked by a workshop, where diagnosis and replacement of the MAF sensor should resolve the issues.

Air leaks? I wouldn't know where to even start looking! I'm not mechanically inclined. As for higher RPMs, it feels sluggish and unresponsive, like it's lost a lot of its pep. Is that a for-sure symptom of MAF sensor failure?

Sluggish performance plus your other symptoms points strongly to a faulty MAF. Get it checked by a workshop; diagnosis confirmed, replacement should sort it.

Thank you so much! Your concise advice was a great help. I took it to the workshop, and you were spot on - the mass air flow sensor was indeed defective. 365€ later and it runs like new. I really appreciate you pointing me in the right direction!

Sounds like a defective MAF sensor. Have you checked for any obvious air leaks in the intake system? What's the car's performance like at higher RPMs?
