Jazz rough running EGR valve

Having trouble with my 2008 Honda Jazz gasoline. 170k km, running rough, especially accelerating. Reduced engine power, check engine light, smoke sometimes, loud hissing, increased fuel consumption, jerks when accelerating. Could this be an EGR valve issue?

Sounds familiar! I had a similar problem with my Jazz a while back. Rough idle, check engine light... the whole shebang. I was getting terrible mileage too. Hissing? Yep, I heard that too. The smoke not so much. Have you checked your catalytic converter? How did it do on the vehicle emissions test?

Thanks for the reply! I haven't checked the catalytic converter specifically, but it did pass the emissions test recently, surprisingly. What exactly was the issue with your Jazz? Was it indeed the EGR valve, and did it cause all those symptoms I'm experiencing?

Okay, emissions test passed... that’s good, but not a total exoneration of the catalytic converter. Mine turned out to be the EGR valve. The rough running and check engine light were the biggest giveaways. If you're hearing a hissing sound on acceleration as well I would go to a workshop if I were you.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to the shop, and you were right – it was the EGR valve. New valve and labor came to 355€. The car is running much better now. Appreciate the help!
